The Pharoahs of Egypt
The Egyptian National team known as The Pharoahs will be appearing in their 3rd FIFA World Cup in Russia where they are in group A with Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and host country Russia.

This will be their first appearance for 28 years and third overall. The Pharoahs are the most successful national team in Africa, having won the Africa Cup of Nations a record seven times.

However, despite their continental glory, Egypt has so far made only two precious appearances in the World Cup (in 1934 and 1990), failing to win a game on both occasions. The Egyptian national team was the first African and Middle Eastern team to qualify for the World Cup.

Spectular Mo Salah
The Egypt Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup team is perhaps the biggest example of a one-man team heading into this summer’s tournament. The team is built around Mo Salah who scored 5 of their total 8 goals in the qualifiers with the remaining 3 goals coming from the boots of Abdallah Said. The Liverpool forward who set new premier league record by netting 32 goals in 38 matches sustained a shoulder injury from a Sergio Ramos tackle at the finals of the 2018 UEFA champions league which Liverpool lost 1-3 to Real Madrid. In the absence of Mo Salah, the team will likely struggle. They will begin their campaign in group A on June 15 against Uruguay with Mo Salah likely to miss the opening game.

Uruguay are presently ranked 14th in the world with 12 previous appearances in the world cup winning the title twice. A win or draw against Uruguay will put them in a better position for their second game against hosts Russia on 19th of June. The last group game will be against the high scoring Saudi Arabia team on the June 25.

Will Egypt make it out of the group stage for the first time?
