As Ada Anioma Celebrates, We Take A Look At The Over 55 Projects Listed Under Her Illustrious Name

Ever since she pulled off what has remained the greatest political upset in Delta State politics in 2007 by defeating a PDP candidate under the platform of the Accord Party, Hon. (Evang.) Mrs. Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor rejoined the PDP and has grown a leviathan in the waters of Delta State politics.

Born 7th of July to the family of Late Hon. Augustine Ugbah of the Umu-Udasi lineage in  Idumu-Osigbudu, Abuedo qtrs. Of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Amaechi as she is fondly called spent her early life with her grandmother at Enugu Iyi in Ubulu-Uku.

She began her education in Central School Ubulu-Uku (Now Ubulu Model Primary School) where she got her First School Leaving Certificate. Later; she proceeded to Itohan Girls Grammar School, Benin City, where she obtained her West African School Certificate.

~ 1985 - 1988: She was Public Relations Officer at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria. ~1988-92, She was admitted to study English at the University of Jos and she finished with an excellent Bachelor’s Degree Award. She would later go on to bag a Masters Degree in Journalism.

~ 1992: Welfare Officer at Nigerian Prisons Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State. (NYSC).

~ 1993-1994: Insurance Marketing Executive at Bidac Insurance Brokers, Lagos.

~ 1996: Nigerian Institute of Journalism where she obtained a Post graduate diploma in Marketing.

~ 1996 - 1999: Assistant on Women Affairs to the Obi Edward Ofulue II (JP).

~ 1999 - 2002: Personal Assistant to the Office Of The Deputy Governor, Delta State.

~ 2003 - 2006: Commissioner in the Local Govt. Service Commission of Delta State.

~ 2007 - 2015: Member representing Aniocha South at the Delta State House of Assembly.

~ 2015 - present: Member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency Of Delta State at the National Assembly.

She’s married to Mr. Peter Mrakpor who is the Delta State Attorney General and their Union is blessed with a gorgeous set of triplets.

She’s the iconic figure of Anioma Women in politics.

She’s an Evangelist and a tireless preacher of Christ who she regards as her greatest inspiration.

As she marks her birthday today, we have taken out time to compile all the bills and projects she influenced or facilitated in her decade of phenomenal achievements in politics.

A Decade of Excellence

  1. Construction of a 60 bed capacity General Hospital with Staff quarters, brand new  ambulance and a brand new Toyota Hilux to serve as utility vehicle in Ubulu-Uku.
  2. Reconstruction of Adonte Market.
  3. Reconstruction of Abuedo Primary School Ubulu-Uku.
  4. Construction of Six Classroom blocks with furniture at Ubulu Unor Mixed Secondary School.
  5. Supply of modern health care equipment to Comprehensive Health Centre, Ubulu Okiti. 
  6. Construction of six classroom blocks with furniture at Ezemu Girls Grammar School Ubulu-Uku.
  7. Donation of brand new ambulance, X-ray machines and other diagnostic equipment to General Hospital, Ogwashi-Uku.
  8. Construction of Isho/Ogbego, Udo/Ogbego and Palace Roads Ubulu-Uku.
  9. Setting up of skills acquisition centre with weaving machines and computers at Ubulu-Uku.
  10. Construction of Ubulu-Uku/Issele-Uku link road.
  11. Donation of ambulance and equipment to Ishiagwu General Hospital. 
  12. Building of a befitting structure for the judiciary Court in Ubulu-Uku.
  13. Construction of classroom blocks and staff room at Abah Unor Secondary Schools.
  14. Reconstruction of Ukwuoba Primary School.
  15. Donation of seven classroom blocks to St Anthony’s Model College, Ubulu-Uku.
  16. Reconstruction of Abuedo Primary School Ubulu-Uku.
  17. Construction of Asei Primary School Ogwashi-Uku. 
  18. Construction of Examination Hall at Ubulu Model Primary School, Ubulu-Uku.
  19. Construction of 33kva line, 5 transformers and changing of all wooden poles to concrete poles in Ubulu-Uku.
  20. Construction of Nzemeke Primary School, Nsukwa.
Including countless social welfare, human capital development and youth empowerment programmes such as award of tertiary education scholarship, payment of hospitality bills for the sick and elderly, distribution of 15 vehicles, over 50 tricycles, donation of motor bikes to community vigilante groups, distribution of thousands bags of rice and cooking ingredients to her constituents during festive seasons.

As a reward for her phenomenal achievements, Hon Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor picked up the ticket to represent Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency at the National Assembly after a keenly contested primaries between her, Mr. Paul Adingwupu and Chief Isaac Anwuzia. She went on to win in the general elections and has since then continued to leave her indelible footprints of excellence in the sands of time.

After just 100 days in office, she held a townhall meeting with her constituents where she consulted with them and outlined her core objectives. Since then, like a goldfish she has found no hiding place. She is the favourite female guest at most of the leading TV Channels in the country. The list of bills she sponsored and projects she has accomplished are all testament to the fact that Hon Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor has progressed to a feat only her can attain. In less than three years of representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, the following are her accomplishments.

  1. Construction of Comprehensive Health Centre Issele-Uku, fully equipped.
  2. Construction of a Comprehensive Health Centre Idumuje-Ugboko, fully equipped.
  3. Portable Water Project, completed in Ezi.
  4. Supply of heath care equipment and wheelchairs to Primary Health Centre Issele-Mkpitime.

Aniocha South L.G.A.
  1. Portable Water Project located at Kwale Junction Ogwashi-Uku
  2. Construction of a Comprehensive Health Centre in Ogwashi-Uku.
  3. Construction of Seven classroom blocks at Ngwu Mixed Secondary School Ogwashi-Uku.
  4. Reconstruction of of Ubulu Model Primary School Ubulu-Uku.
  5. Construction of garri processing Factory Ejeme, fully equipped with equipment that completes processing of cassava, as it peels, grinds and Fries.
  6. Construction of Garri Processing Factory Ubulu-Uku, fully equipped with equipment that completes processing of cassava, as it peels, grinds and fries.
  7. Construction of a Comprehensive Health Centre Nsukwa, fully equipped.
  8. Construction of Bio-Resource Research And Development Centre Ubulu-Uku (Ongoing).
  9. Construction and Tarring of Idumu-Osigbudu Road with drainage, Ubulu-Uku.
Oshimili North L.G.A.
  1. Construction of Palm Oil Processing Plant at Akwukwu Igbo, fully equipped.
  2. Setting up of Skills Acquisition Centre, Ilah.
  3. Construction of seven classroom blocks to Umejeị  Primary school in Ibusa.
  4. Portable water project in Ebu 
  5. Portable water project in Akwukwu Igbo.
Oshimili South L.G.A
  1. Osadennis Computer Building, Asaba, equipped with 30 pcs of Computer.
  2. Construction of Comprehensive Health Centre with equipment at Oko-Anala. 
  3. Construction of Cottage Hospital with Mortuary and Staff quarters at Bonsac, New Asaba.
  4. 500kva transformers, installed in Asaba.
  5. Mini grid in Ogwa Ukwu Asaba. 
  6. Installation of Solar powered street lights at the Asagba’s Palace, Asaba. 

1.  The Nigerians in Diaspora Bill which she sponsored has been signed into law by president Muhammadu Buhari. 

The bill seeks to  Establish the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Provide for the   engagement of Nigerians in Diaspora in the Policies, Projects and Participation in the  development of Nigeria and for the Purposes of utilizing the Human, Capital and Material  Resources of Nigerians in Diaspora towards the overall Socio-Economic, Cultural and  Political Development of Nigeria; and for Other Matters Related Thereto.

2.  Security Service Welfare Infrastructure Development Bill. 

It went through second reading. The bill seeks to provide welfare for Nigerian security agents  who are often posted to different parts of the country where most often they are left without  shelter, food, change of uniform, and even when they pick up injury or die in active service they  are not adequately compensated. 

3. The National Council on Elderly Persons Bill. 
Now at its committee stage, this unique Bill looks at social welfare and care for the elderly and senior citizens of the country. After retirement, what next? In most cases, retirees are abandoned  to their fate and to the mercy of their children. There is no state sponsored Healthcare  programme to cater for their unavoidable age related sicknesses. The bill seeks to provide a  social welfare package for them. 

4. The National Youth Service CORPS (NYSC) Bill. 
This bill has gone through second reading, it is at the committee stage. 
Other bills are; Nigeria Children Trust Fund Bill. Nigeria Coast Guard Commission Bill, etc.
