Africa's Most Influential Footballer Retires.



Chelsea legend and former Ivorian national football team captain Didier Drogba has announced his retirement from football.

The big centre forward who was born March 11, 1978 announced his retirement today at the age of 40.
He holds a record as the all-time top scorer of the Ivory Coast national team.
He is best known for his highly successful career at Chelsea, for whom he has scored more goals than any other foreign player and is currently the club's fourth highest goal scorer of all time. He scored 365 career goals, won 1 UEFA champions league trophy, 5 EPL titles, 9 domestic cups and was twice named African Footballer of the Year in 2006 and 2009.

He holds a record for most goals scored in the UEFA Champions League by an African player (44 goals) and most goals scored in the Premier League by an African player (104 goals).

Also, he was named by Time Magazine in 2010 as one of the 100 most influential men alive.
