Children, Widows Win N720,000 Cash As Mrakpor Triplets Mark 10th Birthday In Style

Three children and nine widows walked home with cash prizes totalling up to N720,000, as the Mrakpor family today celebrated the 10th birthday anniversary for their triplets - Miracle, Melody and Mercy.

The birthday ceremony which was held at Ada Anioma Constituency Office Ground, Okpanam Road, Asaba, was attended by the elites of the society, including Her Excellency, Dame Edith Okowa, members of the state Executive Council, members of the State House of Assembly, Council Chairmen, groups from the four local government areas in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, among others. For the celebrants, Miracle, Melody and Mercy, it was a time for merriment as they danced round the venue in company of their mother to welcome the guests, before later engaging in a dance with the First Lady of the State.

The high point of the occasion was a Bible Quiz Competition, organised for children between the ages of 5 and 15 years. The competition saw the emergence of Master Marvel Ezedom, who represented the Church of Christ as overall winner and he was presented the sun of N150,000.

The sum of N100,000 and N50,000 were presented to Master Onyedika Dike and Dibia Victoria who finished second and third respectively. The third place prize, however, was presented courtesy of the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, Chief Festus Ochonogor.

In the second category, nine widows took turns to preach a 7-minute sermon on the topic: "JESUS CHRIST THE HUSBAND OF THE WIDOW". At the end, two widows, Mrs. Rita Ajabor and Mrs. Rebecca Isagbah, were presented the sum of N250,000 and N100,000 respectively as winner and runner-up . The other seven widows who participated were given a consolation prize of N10,000 each, courtesy of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Engr. Lawrence Ejiofor. There was plenty to eat and drink and all the invited guests were presented with gifts, according to their groups or LGAs.

The parents of the celebrants, Barr. Peter Mrakpor, Honourable Commissioner for Justice and Hon. Mrs. Onyemaechi Mrakpor, Director General, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, thanked Her Excellency, Dame Edith Okowa and Deltans for celebrating the children every single year in the past decade.
